The lady and the watermelon

Once upon a time, there was a lady who grew watermelons for the first time. She pored over the internet, trying to decide if her watermelons were ripe. She concluded one at least was, so picked it and bore it triumphantly into the house. Proudly she gathered her family around her for the great unveiling.

The knife sliced through, the melon parted - to show light pink flesh and white seeds "oh no, it's not ripe yet"...

The disappointment was almost more than she could bear. The longed for treat was not to be.

So back to the internet she went to find out what to do with an unripe melon.. Recipes anyone??

Awww what a shame. Did you taste any of the flesh? No recipes, I'm afraid...

Is that a moon and stars melon? I have see them in the Diggers Club catalogue.

What did the melon taste like? Maybe it's supposed to look like that.

You could try making watermelon rind pickles with the rind and perhaps making a sorbet with the flesh.
