If I only had a brain...

What else do you do when you're reading The Wizard of Oz but decide to make a scarecrow? And in "our" usual "lets-jump-into-the-most-complicated-version-we-can-think-of" way, not just an ordinary scarecrow, but one with removable clothes... So yeah, basically a big rag doll.. Sure, why not..

So here's the result of our day's work - a Billy-sized scarecrow.

sans clothes

And fully dressed...

And now, having put so much effort into him, he's officially an indoor scarecrow.. You know, to keep the um... flies ... away..

Maybe one day soon we'll make a scarecrow that can live outside and earn its keep.

Well, you have at least half a brain (said in the kindest way) ... because, it's not YOU inside all that bandaging, like I first thought!!!!

Interesting costume, but effective ... that wig would scare anything away!

I have to laugh, Kez, cause Rachel was in the play Wizard of Oz at our local high school last week. She was a munchkin. :)

You guys are remarkable Kerrie :) We have fly troubles too over here but I don't even want to think of doing all this work. How in the world did you manage such a lifelike, lifesize replica?

Thanks everyone! So far it's been carted around in the car to show people, slept in Billy's bed last night and is currently lying in the hallway (keeping cool I presume lol).
Why bother with a scarecrow when you can have such a cool doll!

Suji - I got Billy to lie down on a large sheet of calico (doubled over), traced around him and then cut it out & sewed it up (I did the head separately).
Then we stuffed it with old rags, sewed the head on and dressed it up. Believe me, it's easier to type than it was to do :)

LOL! Now that is one very fancy scarecrow. Im amazed at how well proportioned it looks. Very life like. Have you ever been to Woolombi and seen all the scarecrows? They are hilarious! I was bursting to go back and take pictures but never got there. I saw them from the back of a motor cycle.

And yes Wendy has given up blogging and deleted her blog. She is too busy writing her book. :-(

I traced around Billy - that's how I got it looking life-like :)

No I haven't been out to Wollombi for years. I must go one day.

I knew Wendy had stopped blogging but I didn't realise she'd deleted her blog until you mentioned it. Boo :(
