Billy's been begging me to try archery since he started - our homeschool archery class is perfectly fine with adults joining in. There are a few mums who do it regularly. I kept putting him off telling him I'd try it when there weren't many people there. So today was the day - the wet, cold weather kept most people away, and someone reminded me of my promise...
I tried it and really enjoyed it. It kills the fingers where you pull the string back and I'll quite possibly find a few arm and shoulder muscles that I didn't know I had, but I really enjoyed it - and went far better at it than I expected. Now to find some money in the budget so I can do it every week :)

Those bows are so big, Carter said it hurt his fingers and it was so awkward for him he'd drop the bow & arrow all the time. He said he'd give it another go when he got bigger. Missed catching up at the park today.Good on you for having a go, I would definitely do alot more with carter if I didn't have Faith to watch. Take care
Yes, my fingers are still hurting now! We gave the park a miss due to the weather ;) I can just imagine what Faith would get up to while Carter & you were shooting!!
Sounds like a lot of fun! I hope you find a way to keep enjoying archery. Smiles, V.
Hello lovely Kez-
just catching up with your blog and you and Billy have been doing so many terrific things- good on you for joining in with the archery.

My son is enamored with guns. I don't see why, as neither is father nor I have any interest. (It may be genetic. I come from a long line of hunters, ranchers and law enforcement on both sides.) But, he was emulating ballistics tests off Mythbusters at 5. So, I promised him that I would take him through a county gun safety course as soon as he was old enough to enroll.
I joke I'll be the only 50-something woman in the class, but I will stick by my promise.
Nice to know I'm not the only one. :)
How fun! I remember loving archery when I tried it as a child. Would love it give it another go.

my two oldest have bows and target shoot often. they have archery gloves, they were quite inexpensive and fit about the wrist and over the three fingers you pull the bow string with. we spent about $20 US total.
Good for you Annie!
3anklebiters - the teacher had some finger guards that I could use - I'll see how it goes next week. The gloves sound good!
Glad you enjoyed it! I 'm looking forward to having another go too.
Good Tricia - We can do it together!
Pulling the bow is tricky! My son loves archery too. He's had lessons from both a class at a local park and from his dad, who used to collect bows. I've tried it a few times, but I have terrible aim. :o)
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
